The thought of finding a job can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re looking for something that fits around childcare and other commitments. If you’ve been out of the workplace for a while, you might be a bit concerned about returning, or worried that your skills are out of date. This might be your first time looking for a job, and you don’t know where to start. Perhaps you are considering a career change or already have a job and are looking to increase your earnings. You may be interested in training or learning something new to help you move towards the type of work you’d like to do, or maybe you just need a bit of help managing your money. Or you may be navigating challenges around your child’s support needs or your own health conditions for returning to work.

How Parent CONNECT can help

Parent CONNECT is a partnership between Aberdeenshire Council, Aberdeen Foyer and Enable Works, working together to provide parents across Aberdeenshire with free, personalised employability support. Parent CONNECT offers a wide range of support to help parents explore their options, build confidence, develop skills, overcome barriers and move towards work, education or training. They'll work with you to understand what matters to you and your family and help you find the right support at a pace that works for you.

Support from Parent CONNECT is completely free and can include:

One-to-one support to help you work towards your goals
Training and learning opportunities to develop your skills
CV support and help identifying your skills and experience
Job searching and finding suitable vacancies
Application and interview support
Connections with local employers
Childcare information and support
Help understanding how moving into work or increasing your earnings could affect your finances and benefits
Signposting and connections to other local services where additional support would be helpful.

Using any of these services is entirely voluntary, so you won’t be pushed into a job that doesn’t suit you. It also means you won’t lose any benefits you’re currently receiving if you decide it’s not for you at any stage.
