Self-Harm Network Scotland (SHNS) provides one-to-one self-harm support for anyone aged 12+ in Scotland. The support is delivered by Mental Health & Wellbeing Peer Practitioners who have their own, unique, lived experience of self-harm. You can refer yourself for 12-15 sessions of one-to-one support that are delivered over the phone, via video call or through text support.
SHNS provides a live chat service that operates 7 days a week between 6pm and 10pm. This is a confidential service, staffed by peer practitioners and trained volunteers who can offer out of hours, immediate support.
SHNS also offers support and information for parents and carers, friends and family members through their Loved Ones Support Group Sessions. These 4-week groups explore information, resources and support for self-harm, including strategies on how to start a conversation about self-harm and harm minimisation. They also offer a space for loved ones to engage in peer support and include information on how to look after your own wellbeing as a loved one of someone who self-harms
If you’re feeling distressed or experiencing thoughts of suicide right now, there are organisations who can support you with compassion and no judgement. Please reach out if you need them, they’re there to listen.

The Parental Employability Support Fund provides support to parents on low incomes who are looking for a job or who are currently in work and looking to progress. No One Left Behind helps people of all ages gain skills and confidence, helping them prepare for employment, training, education and/or volunteering. The scheme offers one to one tailored employability support from a key worker, including support to access training. Fair Start Scotland provides support to many people, including those at risk of becoming long-term unemployed, to support them to find and retain work. Depending on your situation, you can get up to 12 months of tailored support to access employment and a further 12 months of in work support. The Scottish Welfare Fund provides one-off grants to help people who are on lower incomes. The Crisis Grants support people who are facing an emergency or disaster, and Community Care Grants help people to start or maintain a settled home. The Fostering Network brings together everyone who is involved in the lives of fostered children. They work with foster carers and fostering services to ensure all fostered children and young people experience stable family life. Stop it Now! Scotland is a child protection charity that aims to prevent child sexual abuse by providing support services to families. They have a confidential helpline. You can call them on 0808 1000 900.

Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland (SBH Scotland) is a charity that offers specialist support and information. They provide a range of free services including a helpline, phone check-in service, one-to-one support via video conferencing or phone, virtual support groups and online activities for children, as well as information on financial and benefits support. People across Scotland now have free access to the Togetherness Online Learning Pathways for parents, carers and teenagers. The pathways cover a range of topics and ages, from pregnancy to 19+ years. Togetherness online pathways take parents on a learning journey for understanding childhood development, behaviour and wellbeing to help build stronger connected relationships and resilience for the everyday.
There are also resources specially designed for teenagers, to help them understand themselves, their emotions, and how their brain changes in adolescence. There are even courses for parents if you are keen to think about relationships and experiences that may have influenced you across your own life.
