Number games to share the fun

Reading time: 0-5 minutes

Counting and sharing go really well together – and it can be easy to mix the two whether you’re playing together, or having a meal or snack.

Sharing the fun games

Game #1: One for you, one for me

If you've got a game or toys that come with lots of different pieces - like building blocks, or toy cards - you could use these to help your child share out items into equal groups - 5 for you, 5 for me, and so on. Share nicely now.

Game #2: Number crunching

Next time you’re serving up a meal for the family, try asking your child to count out a certain number of things for each person - it could be potatoes, carrots, or even peas or baked beans. 34 beans for me please!

Game #3: Sweet treats

Ask your child to count out 3 grapes, or 4 strawberries or 5 blueberries for each of you. Then get them to find out what happens if they have 6 grapes and give 3 away.
