 MONEY & WORK

If you’ve been finding it hard to make ends meet, the thought of looking for work that fits around your family can be overwhelming.

If you’ve been out of work or on leave for a while, you may be a bit worried about returning to the workplace. Perhaps you feel that things have changed since you last worked and your skills may be out of date. Or maybe this is the first time you’ve looked for a job, and you don’t know where to start.

The good news is, you don’t have to do it on your own – there are lots of services to support you through your job hunting journey and help you get a job that fits around your family. On our page on help looking for a job we can guide you to someone to talk to who can support you to gain new skills, find work, access childcare and increase your earnings. We can even show you how to get help with the costs of interviews and travel, and get support if you’re disabled or if you’re a woman returning to the workplace. We can also help you deal with any debt you may have.

If you’re finding all this stressful, remember that as well as the organisations that can help with finding a job and returning to work, there are also lots of people that can help you if things are getting you down, including your GP. Our page on wellbeing for parents has more advice.
